The beginning of Slatmill Dogs

Hi, and welcome to Slatmill Dogs! My hubby Dennis and I created Slatmill Dogs out of the realization that nothing like this exists for the dogs in The Waterloo Region and close neighbouring areas. I've been a huge animal lover all my life and in fact, growing up, there was never a time when I wasn't surrounded by animals. Dennis, on the other hand, well, he was only allowed one dog throughout his life at home with his parents.

When our three kids were small, we had a dog named Sarah and now that we have two young grandsons, well, we feel that this is not the right time to introduce a dog into our family.

So, why Slatmill Dogs?

Well, why not? When you realize how fast dogs can run - truly run - it's incredible! Who knew that Jack Russell Terriers can run around 60 km/hr. How often, I wonder, when out on their daily walk do dogs ever feel like we do when we walk with a toddler?
